MATERIALS PROVIDED: Songs can be downloaded from our website at:

Les Miserables – Music

Please have your child listen to, learn, and love all of the songsJ.

We will give each child a hard copy script probably in the 3rd or 4th week of rehearsal. We will ask you on that day to bring a 3-ring binder to take the script home in that week. We will tell you in advance.

AUDITIONS: Your child will be doing a singing audition in the second week of the session. We will give you more details about this later, but please tell your kids that we will make it fun for them and that they should not be nervous!

CASTING: We do our very best to make sure that each child has a lot to do in the show, based on their age, skills, and experience with us. Sometimes kids don’t get the exact role that they want. Please help prepare your child for this possibility. Our goal is to give each child a role that will challenge them, but also allow them to succeed. Please trust us! We have had so many experiences with kids being disappointed when the show was cast, who say that they loved the role we gave them so much more than the role they originally wanted. For this reason, please encourage your children not to focus on just one or two roles (this will help minimize the possibility of disappointment).

We ask kids to give us their top 5 roles in the show, and we will try to give them one of those choices. We believe in an “ensemble approach” to casting and do “split up” the lead roles. Kids who have been with us before generally get a bit more to do as they are more experienced. EVERYONE, no mater how young or how new with us will get speaking lines and solo singing in the show (and everyone will have LOTS of stage-time).

DRESS CODE: Students should wear comfortable clothes that they can move in: T-shirts and shorts, sweat pants or leggings with dance shoes or soft soled tennis shoes and socks. Please no jeans, skirts, or other restrictive clothing. No hard soled shoes, rigid “high tops”, sandals, or flip-flops. Long hair should be worn in a ponytail. Please have your child come ready to move!

SHOES FOR THE SHOW: We would like for you to get the following shoes for the show:

Boys/Girls Playing Boys: black or tan jazz shoes.

Girls: black or tan jazz shoes. Possibly “character shoes” for anyone playing older Cossette or Madam Thenardier.

SIGN IN/OUT: Each child will need to be signed in and out each day by a parent or other designated adult. Please do not just drop your child off. Also, your children will not be permitted to wait outside for you after rehearsal. You must come in and sign them out. No Exceptions. If someone else is picking your child up, please let us knowJ

EMERGENCY INFORMATION: You will need to fill out an emergency card on the first day of rehearsal regardless of whether you are new or not to LCJT.

CONFLICTS: Please your review the dates for rehearsal/ shows and please clear your schedules now to avoid conflicts. Please let us know NOW if you have any conflicts. Except for unexpected illnesses, we really need for everyone to be at every rehearsal as we draw close to the show. Thanks for your helps!

CELL PHONE: Please ask your child to leave their phone in their bag/cubby hole during rehearsal.

PAYMENTS: If you have not paid in full, you should have paid the $548.76 deposit and you will pay the rest of the tuition in 6 payments of $249.38 due on October 1, November 1, December 1, January 1, February 1, and March 1. You can pay by check or on our website by credit card or Paypal. We prefer checks or cash so that no one pays feesJ

*Please note that tickets to the show are sold separately! Unfortunately, due to our licensing agreement, we are unable to provide comps or discounted tickets to parents.

ABSENCES/LATENESS: Please e-mail us text Susan if you are going to be absent or are running late. Susan’s phone number is 818-726-5065.

SAFETY RULES: No student is allowed to leave the rehearsal space without permission or supervision. We need to know where all kids are at all times! There are NO exceptions!

REFERRALS: We still have limited space left in our “Les Miserables” casts, but do expect to fill up. Word of mouth is absolutely our favorite way of advertising. Please refer us to anyone you know who might benefit. from LCJT!
